Surya

About

Once Lord Shiva called Surya Dev and said, “Saptashvavahan! You go to the auspicious Kashi Puri. The king there is very religious. His name is Divodas. The way Kashi is destroyed by the king's anti-religious behavior, take such measures. But don't insult that king, because the disrespect that is given to a good man engaged in religious conduct, falls on himself and doing so is a great sin. If the king becomes apostate by your wisdom, then you destroy the city with your sad rays. I sent Gods and Yoginis to Kashi to see, they all together could not find any hole in Divodas's religious conduct and returned unsuccessfully. Diwakar, you know the efforts of all the living beings in this world, that's why you are called Lokchakshu. So you go quickly for the accomplishment of my work. I want to free Kashi from Divodas and reside there. Surya Dev went to Kashi by obeying the orders of Lord Shiva. Wandering inside and out there, he did not see even the slightest act of religion in the king. He lived in Kashi in many forms. Sometimes he tried to mislead the men and women of Kashi by preaching different types of fasts through different types of parables and stories, but he did not succeed in turning anyone away from the path of religion. In this way, while wandering in Kashi, Surya never found any kind of negligence in the conduct of any human being. After getting the rare Kashi Puri, which conscious man can leave it. One can get wife, son, money in every birth in this world, only Kashipuri cannot be found. In this way, seeing the religious effect of Kashi, Lord Surya's mind became restless to live in Kashi, hence his name Lolark became famous in Kashi. Lolark is located near Asi Sangam in the south direction, he always stays in Kashi and carries the Yog-Kshem of Kashi residents. On the sixth or seventh day of the month of Margashirsha, a person becomes free from all sins by traveling there and seeing the Lolark sun. The person who sees the Lolark Sun on Sunday, does not feel any sorrow.
