Modern scholars say that the absence of Kalbhairav's name in Krityakalpataru proves that the worship of Kalabhairav is modern, not ancient. In Krityakalpataru also, there is an indication of hair falling on Kapalmochan Tirtha and there is also a mention of a Shivling by the name of Kapaleshwar. Similarly, there is description of Shiva Linga named Bhairaveshwar and Bhairav Koop. This greatness of Bhairaveshwar has also been told that there is no rebirth in the world after seeing him. From this it is clear that Bhairav was worshiped in Kashi even from the time of Krityakalpataru.
