About

During the period when Lord Shiva was residing in Mandarachal, religious king Divodas used to rule in Kashi. In his kingdom every creature was living happily and prosperity was prevailing everywhere. An agreement was made between Lord Bramhadeva and King Divodas that as long as Kashi was ruled by Divodas, all the deities and divine powers should stay away from Kashi and not create any kind of disturbance. (Kashi Khand- Chapter-45) Lord Brahmadev had more or less agreed on this subject. But his condition was that King Divodas should prove himself to be an efficient ruler and all Kashi residents and Kashi pilgrims should get full facilities and security for performing religious rituals. The king agreed to this and accordingly started ruling efficiently. Staying away from Kashi, Lord Shiva became unhappy and wanted King Divodas to commit some mistake. That's why he sent Chaisath Yogini to disturb Kashi, but she settled here after being fascinated by the natural and religious beauty of Kashi. She started living at different places of Kashi by making her residence. Kamakhya Devi is one of them. All the places where Yoginis made their abode came to be known as Shakti Peethas. If someone worships these Shaktipeeths, he will get divine energy and the devotee will get peace of mind, victory and success in competition.
