Before 1931, Jain Ghat was part of Vaccharaja Ghat. The Jain community later built a permanent ghat and named it Jain Ghat. Because it is the only ghat belonging to the Jain community in Varanasi, it is commonly called Jain Ghat, although its formal name is Bachraj Ghat.
