About

Linga established by Magadha king Jarasandh during Mahabharata period. By seeing and worshiping Jarasandh Linga, fever gets destroyed (fever ends). Those who wish for health benefits must definitely visit here. It is believed that Jarasandha's father was Magadha King Brihadratha and he had two queens. He was getting old, but he had no children. Once he heard that sage Chandkaushik had arrived in his kingdom. On hearing this, Rajan went to meet the sage with hope. After reaching the sage, he narrated his sorrow to the sage. Hearing the story of the king, the sage felt pity and gave a mango to the king and told him to feed it to his queen. But since he had two wives, he loved the Danaans equally. That's why he cut that mango into equal pieces and fed both his queens. Due to this, both the queens had half sons each. Out of fear, he threw both those pieces in the forest. That's why a demon named Zara was passing from there. He looked at both the pieces of meat and he took the right piece in his right hand and the left piece in his left hand by which both the pieces were joined and then a demon named Jara handed it over to King Vrihadrath. Emperor Jarasandh was a great devotee of Mahadev and was also Kansa's friend and father-in-law. Jarasandh was the biggest challenge for the coronation of Yudhishthir, so Shri Krishna challenged Jarasandh by Bhima and made him fight. Jarasandha died in a 14 (fourteen) days war, after which he freed 86 captive kings for sacrifice and made Jarasandha's son Sahdev the king. In the end, the Magadha king Sahdev supported the Pandavas in the Mahabharata war.
