A linga was established by a Shivgan named Tilparna, sent by Lord Shiva, and here he got engrossed in the worship of the Lord. This linga was named Tilparneshwar. According to Kashi Khand Adhyay 53, all the sails of the devotees who worship Tilparneshwar are washed away. Devotees are not able to perform detailed worship of all Shivlings. That's why they are advised to keep a vessel full of Ganges water and Belpatra with them.
