About

"One day while roaming in the sky, Suryadev saw Lord Keshava worshiping Lord Vishwanath in Kashi. Out of curiosity, he came down from the sky in another form and sat near Lord Keshav. When Lord Vishnu finished worshiping Shiva, the Sun God bowed down to him with folded hands. Lord Vishnu also respectfully made him sit nearby. After getting the opportunity, Suryadev asked - Jagatpate! You are the protector of the whole world and the soul of the whole world. This whole world appears from you and rhythm is achieved in you only. Whom are you worshipping? Seeing this wonderful work of yours, I have come close to you to pacify my curiosity. Lord Keshav said - Bhaskar, because of all the reasons, only Umapati Mahadev is worshiped here. The one who destroys birth, death and old age is Mrityunjaya, the only deity to be worshipped. The one who worships anyone other than Trilochan, he is still blind even if he has eyes. By worshiping the Shri Deity of Lord Shiva here, man easily attains all the four purusharths. By worshiping the Shivling in Kashi, a person becomes free from the accumulated sins of hundreds of births in a moment. That is, there is no other virtue greater than the worship of Shivling in all the three worlds and by consuming the water of Shiva Abhishek one gets the result of bathing in all the pilgrimages. O Surya, you also worship the Sri Deity of Maheshwara, the bestower of great effulgence. After listening to this word of Lord Vishnu, Suryadev started worshiping him by making Shivling of rhinestone, since then Suryadev is still present in the northern part of Lord Keshav considering him as his guru. That's why he is known as Keshavaditya. He dispels the darkness of ignorance of his devotees in Kashi and by being worshiped by him gives them desired success. By worshiping Keshvaditya in Kashi, the best people get that perfect knowledge, which leads to salvation."
