Adi Keshava

About

The most impressive and beautiful temple of Vishnu, recording historical links to the 12th century dynasty is the temple of Adi Keshava. The image of Vishnu is represented with a black marble, while an attached small temple enshrined the image of Vishnu in white marble. Vishnu said that myself is known as Adi Keshava at this site and bestow salvation on the devotees (Kashi Khanda, 61.4). This was the most favorite holy site of the kings, as evident from an inscription that a great number of regal ritual occasions in Varanasi included the worship of Adi Keshava or a dip in the Ganga at the Varuna confluence.
