Vidar Narsimha is one of the eighteen incarnations of Lord Vishnu that are said to be present in Kashi, according to a legend found in Kashi Khand. Vidar Narsimha is revered as Kashi's Guardian, guarding the city from all kinds of misdeeds and suffering. The followers of Vidar Narsimha are said to be endowed with the ability to manage their own agitation. The best time for puja is between 4:30 AM and 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM and 9:00 PM, when devotees can pray at the temple. The temple celebrates Narsimha Jayanti in full force on the day of Vaishakha Shukla Trayodashi.
