Maa Baraka Devi has also been called Kaudi Mata. That's why they are offered cowries in the form of Prasad. After offering a penny by the devotees, one penny is given to the devotees as Prasad. This prasad-like penny is kept by the devotee in the place of worship or in the cupboard in the house. Earlier elders used to say that by collecting pennies, children were taught and nurtured and brought up, keeping these pennies in the house increases. Kaudi Mata is also said to be the sister of Shankar (Shri Kashi Vishwanath).
