As Bhairav ji went to Baikunth Lok with the skull of Brahma. Lord Vishnu advised him to go to Varanasi. On reaching there, before entering Varanasi, Brahma Hatia went to Patal. After taking bath in Matsyodari and Ganga Sangam, Brahma's skull fell there after leaving the hands of Bhairav, since then the place was named Kapal Mochan. Bhairav sat near him. The same Bhairav became the main place in Varanasi. Where Kalbhairav was worshiped in the form of sin-eater and Amardakeshwar.
