About
Vinta, the wife of Kashyap Rishi, could not give up the desire of having a child herself after seeing her consort (son-in-law) playing with a child in her lap. Therefore, his egg which was not even fully developed yet, he broke it untimely. That's why a disabled child was born to him and he was called ""Anoor"" because of being thighless and Arun (red) because of anger towards the mother because of breaking the egg. Later on, Arun did severe penance in Kashi for the pleasure of Lord Surya. For many days, living on water and air, he worshiped the sun with great devotion day and night. Due to the intensity of his penance, the three worlds trembled and the throne of Indra started to stagger. All the deities together went to Lord Surya and said - Lord, you go quickly for the welfare of the people and by giving a boon to Arun, stop him from penance, otherwise all the three worlds will burn due to the intensity of his penance. Lord Surya Vintanandan appeared in front of Arun and said - May you be well, son. We are very pleased with your penance. From today onwards my idol worshiped by you in Kashi will be famous by the name of Arunaditya (Sun). Apart from this, Lord Surya gave many other boons to Arun. Lord Surya said - Arun, you destroy the darkness for the benefit of the world and always sit on my chariot instead of the charioteer. Those people who will worship my idol named Arunaditya established by you in the north of Vishweshwar in Kashi, sorrow, poverty and Patak will not even come near them. They will neither be affected by various types of diseases nor will they suffer from various types of disturbances. Having said this, Lord Surya took Arun with him on his chariot. The person who wakes up early in the morning and salutes Arun along with the sun every day, sorrow and fear cannot even touch him. The servants of Arunaditya never even get a burning sensation caused by grief. The devotee who worships Arunaditya will always remain healthy. Will lead an uninterrupted life. The devotee will never know what sorrow is.
